Coffee Break Tales – Selected Quick Reads For Book Lovers Who Are Short On Time
Those of you who have been following us over the past year or more will know that two of our authors, Jaime & Raechel Faulkner, specialize in writing short stories (as well as poetry).
In fact, while some of their short stories are somewhat short (e.g. 2,500+ words), some are really short – like a mere 500 words each.
And that got us to thinking about how people’s reading habits have changed over recent years.
In today’s hectic world, it’s often a case of get up, get the kids ready for school, stuff down a hastily-heated-up breakfast, go to work, maybe get a lunch break if you’re lucky, go home, see to the kids, prepare and eat dinner, do the dishes (or load up the dishwasher), and by the time you’ve done all of that, you’re too tired to do anything other than collapse in front of the TV.
So if you love reading, what can you do about it?
Well, short stories is certainly one answer, and some of the ones Jaime & Raechel write can be read over a cup of coffee – hence the name, Coffee Break Tales, which is not only the name we gave to their Twisted Flash Fiction and Twisted Short Stories, but also a brand new website that we launched a few days ago.
So, we invite you to check out CoffeeBreakTales.com, where you’ll find books in lots of different genres, including romance, short stories, poetry, fantasy, horror, erotica, and more.
While the site does focus on fiction, we have also included any new magazines we discover, as well as some of the best-selling US newspapers.

As with Volume 1, all of these stories are 500 words (as counted by the writing software we use, which is called Scrivener).

Twisted Flash Fiction Volume 1
We are pleased to announce the publication of Volume 1 of the brand new collection of really short stories, called Twisted Flash Fiction, by Jaime & Raechel Faulkner.
It’s also the first in their new Coffee Break Tales series – so called because you can read them over a cup of coffee.
In case you’ve not heard of the term “flash fiction” before, it’s used to describe short stories that are typically 500 – 1,000 words in length. The stories in Twisted Flash Fiction are all 500 words (as counted by the writing software we use, which is called Scrivener).
Each of these short fiction stories also has an unexpected twist at the end.

Jaime And Raechel Faulkner
Jaime and Raechel Faulkner are a husband and wife writing team.
Together, they write fiction, including novels and short stories, although they specialize in flash fiction / short-shorts (i.e. really short stories), and modern, fun poetry.
Jaime is originally from the United Kingdom, but moved to the USA several years ago where he now lives with his wife, Raechel, and their doggies: Gizmo (Black Lab), Gizmo (Jack Russell Terrier), Frenchie (French Bull Dog), and their youngest doggie additions, Sunny (Yellow Lab) and Midnight (Black Lab).
Jaime has a wide range of interests, including word-based puzzles such as cryptic crosswords (both compiling them and solving them) and Scrabble, and is an avid reader, which he uses as inspiration for their off-beat stories, many of which have an unexpected twist at the end (something that his peculiar mind loves creating, thanks in part to having read Roald Dahl’s bizarre short stories as a teenager).
Raechel was born and raised in California. She has lived in both Northern and Southern CA. She prefers a warm climate with little rain or snow. She likes spending time with their hyped-up dogs as there is always something new to learn from them.
Raechel loves to watch action/adventure, science fiction, crime dramas, techno-thrillers, and (good) horror movies with Jaime. She primarily listens to Electronic music, but she also likes R&B, Smooth Jazz, and Easy Listening. She is also very good at problem solving and using her strong visual skills.
Raechel and Jaime love their home life, where they have plenty of quiet moments to do their writing – as long as the dogs are running around outside. They’ve read many books that were lacking, so they decided to do some writing of their own and once they got started they haven’t stopped.

LuvKu (Volume 1)
Although we published this book a while ago (via one of our sister sites, DealioHound.casa), we are pleased to announce that LuvKu (Volume 1), is now available as an Amazon Kindle book.
The book contains 50 beatifully illustrated ultra short love poems, in the form of haikus.
(A haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry, having three lines, with five, seven, and five syllables respectively.)
While haikus are very short, that doesn’t mean they’re not full of meaning and emotion – simple words that can convey deep feelings of love combined with treasured memories.
